It looks like my hopes of snagging a rigid r4511 is hopeless so which TS would you guys pick next??? I would like to stay under the $900 mark. I would like it to be a hybrid as I like the smaller depth of the saw (no motor sticking out the rear – takes up to much room when parked). Always needs to have a mobile base. Lets hear the picks. I am in Canada but will more than likely get one in montana (or shipped to Montana). Thanks for any info. Pat |

My favorites are the Craftsman 21833 Contractors ($550) or the Craftsman 22114 Hybrid ($799). Both have been reviewed an talked bout on LJs, both pretty solid -- - Jei, Rockford IL - When in doubt, spray it with WD-40 and wrap it with duct tape. The details will attend to themselves. |

In addition to those two Craftsman models mentioned, you might also find a deal on a 22124 or the new 22116. Grizzly has the G0661 for $850 plus s/h. It’s listed as a “contractor saw” but has the motor mounted inside the enclosure. It also has full cast wings, a riving knife, and a nice fence….worth some consideration. If you’ve got 220v, I’d strongly encourage you to look into one of their full industrial cabinet saws. The Steel City 35920 is essentially a full cabinet version of the R4511….it retails for ~ $650 AFAIK. You might also check into a deal on a Jet Proshop 708482k, or some version of it. -- Happiness is like wetting your pants...everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.... |

Depending on where you are at CL would be the way to go. You could get a nice cabinet saw on CL from arouind here that would be as good of a deal as the 4511 was recently. A nice cabinet saw would not take up much of a foot print and you might be able to find a Grizzly, Jet, Ridgid, Powermatic or Unisaw. Those I listed are saws I see listed on a fairly regular basis on our CL. -- Jerry Nettrour, San Antonio, www.topqualitycabinets.net |

I think a grizzly would be in your future… it was on my list before I snagged the R4511, not at the $299 price though. -- There is a fine line between eroticism and nausea... |

Just when I thought I had waited till to late, HD got shipment of 4 R4511’s so I am now a new owner. Can’t wait to say goodbye to my delta. It’s been good to me and I have built a lot of furniture with it but it will be nice to have a bigger and better saw. Thanks for the help any way guys. |

Congrats on the new saw, and thanks for updating us. Get that saw setup well and put a good aftermarket blade on it… -- Happiness is like wetting your pants...everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.... |

I would guess HD will be coming out witha repacment for the 4511 soon. If you can’t wait go with Grizzly. -- W James Brokenbourgh Custom furniture maker http://artisticwoodstudio.com/ |

Yep, the last ones sold for 199. unbelievable. but here’s something better…. use one of their 20% coupons and you’ll have a 3HP with Triple V-belt drive cab saw and a solid fence for under 500. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=93380 and here’s a review http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/1186#comment-565850 -- Router รจ ancora il mio nome. |
