I live in the Charleston WV area and in the past I have had luck finding hardwood lumber only on craigslist. Lately I haven’t had much luck finding what I need. I have called many local sawmills and they will not sell small orders. There is a Woodcraft about 1hr 20 mins from me, but looking for something thicker than 4/4. Also would like it to be rough cut.

Does anyone near the Charleston WV area have a place they go for lumber?

I guess no one here lives near Charleston WV…

Probably too far but there’s an awesome millworks in Hicksville, MD.

I live in Hurricane, WV. Depending on what you are looking for, Withrow Sharpening Service in Huntington has a nice selection. They don’t stock very large quantities, but the stock they have is good quality. I have also gone to Facemyer Lumber in Pomeroy, OH for plain cherry, maple, etc. The website for Valley Woodworkers in Dunbar also list a few other locations in the area for smaller quantities.
If you don’t mind travelling I can recommend a couple other places as well.

Yeah, Hicksville is a little far… 4-5 hours.

I didn’t know Withrow had hardwoods.. they have decent prices? I had completely forgotten about Valley Woodworkers. I found their list on the website, I’ll chase a few of those down. I don’t mind travelling, just drove to Chillicothe OH last weekend to get what I needed.

Withrow is a tad on the pricey side, but I am a cheap SOB.
If you are up for a weekend trip Steve Wall Lumber in Mayoden NC has a huge warehouse with lots of wide stock available. Irion Lumber in Wellsboro PA deals in premium figured woods, well worth the trip, and I have gotten some nice stock from Bailey Wood Products in Kempton PA.
