Topic tags/keywords: question apostrophe errorist errorism typo quote

Hi all,
Whenever I quote a message, any apostrophes get replaced with spaces. Why?
Is it to combat the misuse/abuse of the apostrophe? E.g. Flower’s instead of flowers, it’s instead of its, etc. But that does not make sense, because legit apostrophes are removed likewise also.
Did an errorist hack into the LJ server?
Remember, when you make a typo, the errorists win.
If I catch the errors before hitting Reply, I’ll put the apostrophes back.

Except the quote function is implemented using a document.getElementById() method. It’s being stored in the database correctly, but the code generating the page (and the quoted text) is stripping them (actually, converting them to spaces).

I have no clue why. I will see what I can find out.

I am assuming that you guys ( the first two answerers ) know what in the hell all of that consonant laden word play really means. I myself am just a humble woodworker who thought that he was fairly computer literate for a 65 year old . I guess not. Reading those answers is kinda like eating French food. You have no idea what a particular dish is supposed to taste like, so how do you know if it is any good? The same with your answers. I can only surmise that those were the correct answers to the poster’s question, but then again… I’ll just have to take your word for it; that is, weird words and all. I personally would have said to check the chrome muffler bearings. :-)

See, this is why I argued hard and strong with my first wife, (long gone thank heavens), about putting computers in the house when my kids were young. We are talking late 80’s, early 90’s. She fought, I won. Kids got smart. Make big money.

Now my oldest son is the Director of Quality Control of all the relational databases for a major pension company, and my youngest is working mostly from home, making huge money as a programmer for the gaming and movie industry. They both have large houses, nice cars, great kids.

Me, I just was a simple industrial engineer who knew this gobbley-gook you’all talk about was worth some real money…
