Topic tags/keywords: sawmill lumber trade

Hi all, I’m new to LJ and recently moved to South Carolina. I just wanted to let it be known that I own a sawmill and can saw up logs for anyone in the Rock Hill/Charlotte area. I only ask that I get some of the wood in exchange for milling it, I don’t want to charge. My mill is just under-utilized. I can also trade any lumber that I already have. I prefer not to move the mill so I can assist with moving smaller logs if necessary using my trailer setup. (I’ve loaded up to an 8ft, 31in diameter red oak)

For trade I have some air dried cherry, walnut, poplar and red oak in 4/4-10/4 and varying widths. I also have a bunch of awesome 10/4 red oak that I just milled and it’s up to 18” wide.

Join www.ncwoodworker.net and get on their sawmill list. You should do well. Although it was started for NC Woodworkers, anyone in the surrounding States can also join, and no dues or meetings. We get together on the website.

Wish you were a little farther south. My parents have a little acreage in Seneca, SC and there are several trees that I have to remove and would prefer to not just have to turn them into firewood.

CharleyL, thanks for the heads up I will check it out later tonight.

bigblockyeti, if you had the trees felled and ready to mill then moving and setting up the mill for a day isn’t entirely out of the question. I have done it plenty of times in the past. Just a thought.

They’re still standing, didn’t want to take any down without a plan and they don’t have to come down yet, the chosen ones are still being sorted.
