Topic tags/keywords: plane

I was searching EBay looking for some good tools when I ran across a Japanese style smoothing plane (or so I thought). I ended up as the only bidder so got the plane for $20. When I got it in the mail, it turned out to be a miniature version of what I thought I bought. Of course, had I actually read the description: “Japanese FUJIHISA MAME-KANNA Flat Plane 18mm, Red Oak”, I would have realized that this was not a large plane. The 18 mm dimension apparently refers to the width of the blade.

So – what do I do with this new purchase? Does anyone have anything like this? What do you use it for?

Thanks for the input.
