Wife wanted the west elm emmerson media console http://www.westelm.com/m/products/emmerson-4-drawer-media-console-h1048/

At $1300….. I said no, that I would build it. She said to have it…..

So… I thought about laminating 2×4 edgeways with pocket screws for the carcass and the installing the shelves and drawers. Then I thought about a plywood carcass and “skinning” it with some beat up pine and pallet wood.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Holy Crap! I just went to look at what they had for $1300. They have to be nuts. If I thoght I could get some knuckle heads to pay that for them I’d run to Lowe’s buy some 2×4s and build a few of those! That’s just crazy! !

That price is waaaay out of line for that table. If you want something like that, Pallet wood would do the trick.

West Elm is great for ideas, I could not imagine spending $1300, for pallet wood.
Your idea on building the carcass will work.
