Just thought i would show my xmas haul this year! My awesome wife found some great stuff, and really helped get me started on my way in hand tool woodworking.

The bench plane is a Stanley #4, the block a Stanley #18, and the spokeshave a Stanley #151. So far I have got the #4 flattened, tuned, and good to go, and it works great. I still need to get the other two in working condition.

Quick question, does anyone know if the #18 is bevel up or down? Its standard angle not low angle so i wasn’t sure as i don’t really have experience with standard angle block planes. I am assuming since it isn’t low angle it is bevel down, but I wasn’t really sure.

3 nice items.
The beauty of hand tools.
They are quiet, no electricity needed !
Bonus: “they keep your muscles moving.”
Keep looking, lots of other hand tools out there !

I’ve got everyone of those and love them. That #4 is a real looker. I never that I would have a need for a spokeshave, than I picked up a #51 and #151. It’s amazing how useful they are when you figure out you need one. I use them both frequently.

That is a very very good start. That and some chisels and a saw can make a lot.

Lovely collection. I myself splurged a bit and got myself a dw735x planer.
