Hi-

I used an HVLP sprayer to apply acrylac clear coat (http://www.afmsafecoat.com/products.php?page=3#43) over latex paint and it formed a really bad orange peel layer. The sprayer worked beautifully on the latex, however. I’m guessing the acrylac just dries too fast before it can smooth out???

Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for how I can fix this? Will applying more coats with a brush still show the orange peel, or will it smooth over? I’m hesitant to sand b/c I don’t want to damage the paint underneath.

Thanks.

Sanding really is your only option. Additional coats will show the orange peel. Sounds like the latex wasn’t fully dried before you top coat.
