I have been quite busy with my grandchildren (note new profile pic of grandson building at a big box store) and life so thought I would just check in with you all. Below is my Christmas letter….just a disclaimer….I am a somewhat sarcastic person, so keep that in mind when reading the letter below….although most is fact, the details are embellished quite nicely.

I know this yearly letter is a little late this year, but you know what they say, better late than never. And after you hear how my year has been, you will be surprised you got one at all.

Of course, I will run down each and every large and small event of the year for you, so settle in.

Jen-still married to Mick and living in Las Vegas….so of course, I can’t tell you anything about her. She did give birth in January to little Mr. Jayce, my 4th grandson (get with the program people-NO, she did not give birth to quads, she has two step-sons…remember? Please refer to past Christmas letters if you are getting at all confused). I see her about every three months or so and I think she is finally catching up on a little sleep. Otherwise, her life is just like mine was when I had two children under the age of 4…..and I hate to say it, but I don’t miss that too much.

Jessy-She and Eliot moved to Berkeley in August, supposedly to start Grad school but I have seen her on the news once, carrying a sign I couldn’t read because the nice police man was blocking it. It looked like he was arresting her but she said he was just giving her a ride home. The police in Berkeley are really nice I guess. I was so excited to see her on TV I tried calling her for a week, but she said she couldn’t call me back because she was studying so much.

Jesse and Joey (My first two grandsons)-(Please refer to “Jen” paragraph) They are living in Washington again. They will be 17 in March, holy crap (is that an appropriate word for a Christmas letter? Oh well…when have I been appropriate?) I haven’t seen them since last Christmas but they both have Facebook pages (Note to all parents and grandparents-you can learn A LOT from Facebook-become their friends and wait a couple months when they have forgotten you are friends with them and let the fun begin!) So I am pretty informed about their friends, girlfriends, boyfriends and weirdfriends. All I have to say about that is…let’s hold our breath till they are 18 and none of us will be held liable.

Jordan (My third grandson): The apple of my eye. Yes, he threw an apple at me the last time I visited. It didn’t hurt THAT much. He and I have so much fun together. He loves the “circle store”, that would be Target because they have these dollar bins as soon as you go in the door. Of course he needs many dollar toys when entering Target (Oh YES he DOES Jen). One day we were driving past Target and he was playfully screaming at the top of his lungs that we needed to stop. Jen was driving so we ALL had to suffer, she wouldn’t stop….I’m not really sure why she seems so irritable when I visit. Poor Jordan.

Jayce (My fourth grandson): He is not quite a year old so there is not a lot he does. He does have the “perfect” crawl…I am not kidding….this kid crawls with his little knees tucked perfectly under him and can go very fast. He eats everything in sight, including the dog food. I think I performed the Heimlich at least four times at my last visit…once again, Jen was being impatient with me…I say, what is wrong with a little steak, he liked it and it came right out after the Heimlich. I don’t know what ever happened to that girls patience.

Me: Need I say this the 13th year in a row? Still working at Lagunitas. We opened a taproom a few months ago. They won’t let me go in there anymore…something about too much exposure to the public. Some people just can’t take a little honesty, I call it like it is, you’ve had too much to drink….get out. I guess what do you expect when you get most of your customers from the local AA meeting. I thought it would be fun to pass out flyers there a couple weeks ago. I had no idea…really.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone.

It seems like the 203 days since you posted this have just flown by… Christmas 2009 seems just like yesterday and here it is the middle of August 2010 ( although it feels like late fall with the north winds we’ve been getting yesterday and today). Hope you’ve had a good 2010 so far!
