Topic tags/keywords: cherry oak joining modern question tip

Hello everyone,
I’m Lior, a fairly new hobby woodworker.
My current project is a Mid century inspired Couch (chair?) as a wedding gift for my best friend.

The frame is just about ready and now i want to make the seat and the back.
Can any one recommend the number and sizes of laths for both?
The frame is all cherry and i have some red oak for the laths.

Also, I had an idea of weaving some thinner wood strips for the back rest, mostly for the effect not the strength.
I saw something of the kid in “the wood whisperer’s” video ,
if anyone has experience with this technique on a chair I would be happy to learn from it.

Here are some photos for reference:

Would love to help but are not realy sure i understand where you want to take this design. Do you perhaps have any reference images of chairs that looks about right?
