Welcome to Lumberjocks!

I’ve been shopping around for a bandsaw as well and am unfamiliar with the Reliant name. Good luck finding information on it.

Greetings cigarman: Try to stay away from the Reliant bandsaw if at all possible. This is a very, very cheap tool, and made very poorly. It’s probably one of the worst Chinese tools there are. Everything about it is made cheap, in my opinion. I’ve seen several that failed poorly. The parts they use are terrible and most are made of pot metal. Stick with a good name brand that’s known for quality like Grizzly, Jet, Delta, Powermatic, etc. You may have to pay a little more, but in the end, you’ll get a whole lot more for the bucks. Just remember….....you get what you pay for…........ keep on keeping on….................. Later.

WoodWorkers Warehouse used to carry the Reliant branded products , but went out of business about 5 years ago in this neck of the woods. I have three Reliant air cleaners and a 1HP Dust Collector , all in excellent condition. I can’t speak for their bandsaws though….never owned one . I do have a 14” JET though , and am happy as can be with it and of course I can still get parts for it if needed. You might want to see if there are sources for the Reliant BS before buying one .

cigarman:
I there i have the 16” Reliant Bandsaw. Have been using it for 14 yrs now, with no problems. Done cuts of up to 6” thick for mantel supports with no problems and alot of resawing too. The key is in the fine tuning of guides, which are simple to adjust. For the price i paid for it 14 yrs ago i think it’s great.

PS I am leanning for the Carter guides, then me think i’ll have the best Bandsaw for the money.
I also have the Reliant 6” jointer and think it’s great also.
Remember it’s your project not the tool your using so practice!!!

Reliant, I believe, is an offshore knock off of the ever popular Delta, Jet, Grizzly etc. Now all of the 3 I mentioned are also off shore, they are at least well know and supported brands. I would stay away if you havent already purchased the saw. I would look for a well maintained, well known brand with the capabilities you need for the type of work you will doing. Do you need the saw for cutting curves? Resawing smaller boards? Or resawing large stock?

Greetings again cigarman: I guess I can speak ill of the Reliant, because it was the first bandsaw I bought before the Grizzly, before the Delta I have now. That bandsaw was of very poor quality, and didn’t last no time till it fell apart. They used potmetal for the parts (as I stated in the first post) and never tracked right, etc. But
then I got a Grizzly 14”, and it was a piece of crap, also. The Delta 14” I’ve got now I’ve had for 11 years, and not one minutes trouble with it. So…... it’s your money and your decision….noone can make that for you. I wasn’t trying to put down the Reliant….. I was just stating my own facts, and my own experience with it…...
