Topic tags/keywords: member needs help

HI Friends

A couple years ago I asked for help for my son’s medical problem and you all helped so much,I’m so very grateful for that and thank each and every one of you for your financial help, medical advice and well wishing.

One of our very active members (Dallas)has been struck with very serious medical and financial problems if you can help with any contribution to this fine person please do help him and his wife. I know Tom has also had a post about Dal’s problem but I thought one more post could not hurt.

Thanks for helping a member of the Lj family.
Jim

I’ve got this idea ,let me know what you all think?
What if each of us pledges to send a tool or shop made tool or jig or ? to highest bidder in the next three weeks or ? to the highest donator . we each post a photo of what we will contribute and pay for shipping to the winner unless they are beyond our normal mailing area(for me the continental USA) The winner will have to include in his donation to Dallas (LJs tool bid) or whatever we collectively think of. I don’t think it has to be a real expensive item just an item to add to the number of goodies the highest bidder will get. If you think It’s a good idea and your willing to participate say (I”m in) and if we get enough people by noon tomorrow EST then we can all post photos of our item in a new thread I’ll start just for that purpose. If your in let me know what you think an appropriate amount of time we should wait for the highest bidder and if we should set a minimum.
What do you say gang? Are you in?

Jim, money and strength in numbers is the key to this, and it’s also the quickest and most efficient way to help. You have 80 buddies and I have 63. If all of our buddies donated $20 apiece that would be $2860, more than twice what he needs, but what he really needs is to not have to sell all of his woodworking tools and he needs a place to live better than a used RV. Between the two of us and if all our buddies contributed $20 apiece, we could solve his immediate problem, but there are 117920 lumberjocks in this community. Most of us have a few buddies, if we all ask all our buddies to contribute, maybe this poor guy will get to keep his tools and live in a house. My 20 bucks is going into his go fund me campaign tomorrow, and I’m asking all of my buddies to match me. Let’s get this man back on his feet.

Jerry,

Not everyone can give it but wouldn’t it be great! If people gave five bucks it would make a difference.

Time is getting short and a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do? An old farmer used to tell me that.

The people who can’t give shouldn’t worry about it, they have enough to deal with. What we should focus on is the people who can, and I’m sure there are enough of us that are able to donate even a dollar that it will make a huge difference. When I was a kid, whenever me and my family were personally touched by someone really struggling, my dad used to say “Son, there but for the grace of God goes you or me.” As far as donating goes, he had another saying that I carry with me to this day and I think it’s relevant here. You have to understand, he grew up picking cotton on a farm in South Carolina and had 13 brothers and sisters, anyway he would tell me “I used to feel sorry for myself when I was a kid because I didn’t have any shoes, then one day when I was walking to school, I came across a man with no feet.”

Most folks can give something, the power is in the numbers.

Done. Every little bit helps. I only wish I could have done more.

Jerry in effect by making this post all my buddies did get notice I agree that cash is the way to go my idea was to have us have a list of tools to the highest bidder not Dallas, never the less it wasn’t something folks was interested in doing. In fact other than asking Tom what he thought you’re the only person to comment on the idea. Oh well you win some and you loose some. The proof is in the pudding . I don’t care about my idea just that Dallas gets the help he needs so they can get done what they need to get done. I’m at least glad others are concerned and contributing prayers, ideas and support And hopefully some cash if they can.

Jim, my only thought on the sending a tool to the highest bidder is all the shipping cash would be better off going directly to Dallas. It may amount to more than the bids.

Your right Bob it was just an idea trying kind doing something similar to what they do on silent bids in charity events, not practical hear.
