What I am making is a table type drum sander that is similar to the V-Drum Sander from Stockroom Supply. But since I can’t afford the kit, I am spending a little more time to do it.

So far I have most of the pieces for the initial build, I need to determine some critical sizes.

Now, I know that Stockroom Supply has 2” and 4” models of various lengths like 18” 24” and 30”. With the 2” drum being used on the two smaller sizes and 4” on the two larger sizes, if I remember correctly.

What I make will need to be a ‘portable’ box that I can put on and take it off a workbench due to my shop limitations.

What are your suggested size ( length and diameter )? Why?

I do consider the kits available from Stockroom Supply to be a reasonable value, but taking a bit more time and taking my time on e-bay and crawling through the local supply bins have helped keep the cost down.

... Looking for your ideas. ... Thanks in advance.

If you go to the top of the page to the search box and put in V-Drum Sander, you’ll get lots of info from LJ’s who have build their own. You could PM them to get specific info

I HAVE SOME IDEAS BUT WANT TO USE SPIRAL WRAPPED PAPER——I CAN TRU UP THE DRUM RIGHT ON THE SHOPSMITH , CUT SOME GROVES IN THE DRUM AND SCREW THE PAPER DOWN WITH A METAL CLIP.
