I am looking to aquire a compound miter saw for home project use. I’ve found a used Dewalt 10” DW713 for $80 and a claimed 25hrs of usage. I can inspect this item before purchase as it would be a local sale. does anyone have any advice/info on what I should be looking out for? What is the life of a quality miter saw?

In my opinion, quality used power tools make a lot of sense versus new given my home DIY needs and budget. The DW713 is about $200 new at my local HD. I’ve had luck with Craigslist this month as a local Dewalt retailer sold me a NIB DW368 Circular Saw for $75 and a NIB DW950KX Hammerdrill for $225.

Thanks in advance for your input and advice.

John

Quick update here. First thanks to the many welcomes from the great members here at Lumberjocks. Unfortunately, I missed the $80 DW713. But I think I did ok because I found a new Rigid MS1290LZA for $275. A bit more miter saw than I think I need, but we’ll see where this hobby takes me.

Now, to find ideas on building a bench for this monster! 70lbs!!! :-)
