That time of the year again…anyone receive their 2016 Grizz catalog in the mail yet? Anything significant new or revamped this year? I’m holding out to buy their benchtop drill press, to see if they have a new one this year…looks like the current one has been discounted for a while.

I have requested a catalog several times to no avail. I have bought a lot of tools from them and am surprised that I stopped getting their catalogs.

While I haven’t seen the new catalog, I was told in the MO showroom that it was 72 (or so) pages thinner. Also they said a lot of equipment will get new model numbers as they will now be made in Taiwon instead of China.

They did introduce a new 9” benchto bandsaw and a new 24×36 heavy duty lathe. I think it’s 3hp. Has a tilt away tailstock among other luxurries. Price was unknown but anticipated in mid 3k range.

I got mine today. I see the new lathes: (Not online yet though)
G0799 20×48 $3195 2HP
G0800 24×48 $3395 3HP

The new lathes are all black, kind of look Laguna-ish to me. Clones..?
(Update, just looked at some Laguna REVO lathe pictures. Uncanny resemblance to the new Grizzly, color, swing away tailstock)

There is a cover letter from the President that mentions a new Planer/Jointer that “does not require a change over”. I can’t find it in the catalog or online though! It does not mention a size either.

There is a new foot operated miter framing machine (manual underpinner). Think Logan picture frame joiner beefed up into a self contained 48” tall machine with foot pedal, $695 (T27577, not online yet)

New 9” bandsaw as mentioned above, G0803 $189.95

New benchtop oscillating spindle / belt sander, along the lines of the popular Rigid model, T27417 $189.95

New big-ol downdraft table, 22×62 inches G0798 $1995.00, with two 3/4 horse motors

Thats all I see in the woodworking stuff as far as new, did not look at the metal working stuff yet. If you like, I can photo any of these and post here for your reference.

I went to the Grizzly site last night to decide which jointer I wanted to buy and both the G0452 and the G0654 have been removed from the site. Now they go from a $250 benchtop model to ones that have a comma in the price. I didn’t get the catalog – does it show any new jointers in the $450 range?

The G0452 is a full page in the catalog, but I see online ‘discontinued’... so, if you dont want the benchtop G0725 $250, here are the next ones in line…

G0813 6 inch jointer with “knock down stand and built in mobile base” $525 (Listed as a new item)

G0814 6 inch jointer with cabinet stand and built in mobile base $595 (Listed as new item)

Then we go to 8 inch models, starting at $875

Copcarcollector, if you have a moment, a picture of the benchtop spindle/belt sander combo would be awesome…I had the Ridgid but had some problems with it and sold it…a new one would be great.

Welcome to LJs
Not sure how much experience you have(no profile info) but seeing you bringing up Bench top jointers unless your doing small projects I’d stay away from them, there beds are just too short for for jointing much material over 3’ ,Just my point of view.

Thanks! I guess you could say I’m a somewhat advanced hobbyist. I’ve been tinkering with projects off and on for 15 years. A jointer is the only tool I don’t have at this point. I agree about the benchtop model – I just can’t see it working for me. Hopefully Griz will introduce some mid-level 6” jointers that will fit my needs and budget.
