When you are using a zci does it HAVE to be screwed down while using? I know this would be okay if it was under the fence like when you are raising the blade into it, but what I’m wondering about is while using the saw to make other cuts. Is it safe or okay to just have it sitting in the opening?
Second question: I am getting a table saw from father in law, mid 90’s model. Craftsman contractor and the insert can only go about 1/4” deep from the table top. Is this still something that can accept a zci? Does it need to be deeper in order to use one? If it is okay at that depth what material is suggested to get so thin?
