Hello all and happy holidays,
I need help in finding info on my sliding table attachment. I bought a 1992 powermatic 66 with a sliding table attachment and can’t find any information about it. I know all of the pieces are not there but for the price I paid for the machine I wasn’t too worried about it. Right on the attachment it says Powermatic model ST-1 but after extensive research I came up with nothing. I was hoping to get a little help from you guys.

In the 1980 Powermatic catalog, it’s called a “Gliding table attachment”, part #2028081. You might want to search for that part number, and/or perhaps post your query over at the OWWM site where there are quite a few Powermatic owners that may have one and could give you specifics.

Cheers,
Brad

Thanks Brad for the reply but I believe that one is for the even older models than I have. I’ve been able to find that one in my search but nothing for the one I have. Mine is very similar to a robland attachment but can’t find anything. Even with the model number.

Thanks
Brian

Have you tried contacting Powermatic?

Congrats on finding that unit !

I have benefited from having one of those on my #66 for many years. I think it was around 1999-2000 when I was looking to add the sliding table on my saw. I purchased an ‘Excalibur’ and installed it and was not very pleased. It found that it was fairly flimsy and would not hold setups very precisely. Adding to my displeasure was that it was a large “fixed” appendage which I did not need all the time.

I did some research and found the ST-1, which looked great . I located it at Bloom Supply which was in Nashville. They said that the ST-1 was manufactured for Powermatic by Laguna Tools. They also said that the one they had may have been the only one left from any supplier. I grabbed it and once installed I was very happy to take the Excalibur back to where I had purchased it.

Not sure what parts you are missing but if what I see in the picture is yours, and is mounted, then all you need is some kind of miter rail. The ST-1 also came with a support leg for the end of the rail but I never use that.

It is easy to slide the table on and off, and if you are not going to be needing the cross cut function you can slide the mounting rail off and not have any obstruction that a permanent unit would create. I would estimate that mine is mounted on my saw maybe 1/3 of the time.

I would strongly recommend anyone coming across one of these to snap it .
Roy
