Well I got the new arbor installed, thanks to Brad for his help locating one. Still sanding on the top, trying to get the 30 year old scratches out. Whoever used this saw didn’t take real good care of the top, but I guess that’s expected, it came from a cabnet shop. Anyway it’s coming together, hope to have the dust collection done and the top back on next week.

Looking good so far. But how deep is that motor cover? The motor needs a few inches of clearance so it can move air, and that one seems a bit skinny – is there enough clearance? (maybe it’s just the sideways angle of the photo :)

Cheers,
Brad

I haven’t measured it yet to see how much clearence I have. The cover is about 4 1/8th in. I had already bought a piece of sheet of metal to make another one, thinking it wouldn even bolt up. To my surprise it fit, but I think it needs to be a little deeper. The bottom of the cover has been left about half way open thinking it might help air circulate some, but I havent looked to see what it looks like. I slipped it on late this afternoon. I’ll probably go ahead and make another one before I finish since I’ve got the metal already.
