This is the best I’ve found.

Lee Valley has some really good tape.

I have been using Turner’s Tape from Peachtree.

There is also a double-sided Duck Tape that I found at Walmart that Cap’n Eddie uses.

Duct tape has a great one that I use. For years I used mounting tape that was a bit thicker, but I have been happy with the duct tape.

I prefer THIS ... because I have had almost ZERO luck with both 2-sided tape and using paper in between the mounting block and the piece being turned.

The key to using just about any double-sided tape is to apply the tape, press the workpiece to the tape, then apply tail-stock pressure for 10-15 minutes. I have never had one let go.

Here’s a tape tip that I discovered quite by accident while doing a DIY HVAC install recently.

Ever have trouble getting the liner off of double-sticky tape? Try bending the corner and digging at it with your finger nails and cursing a lot?

Here’s the easy way…take a piece of regular tape (masking tape, blue tape, duct tape, anything sticky), and stick it real good to the corner of the non-stick backer you’re trying to peel off. Then use the regular tape to pull the backer away from the double-stick tape. Works like magic. Sticks just well enough to the slick backer stuff that you can just peel it back easy as you please.

You’re welcome!

-- Last week I finally got my $*i# together. Unfortunately, it was in my shop, so I will probably never find it again.

Have your say...
