I couldn’t find a picture of this anywhere. Does this look bad? We have a big 4×8 1/2” sheet of birch plywood, and I was going to make a bread box for my mother.

What you should do is try a sample piece and see how you like the joint, then go from there. Make sure you use a good backer behind the plywood when making the cuts to help keep down the tear out.

here are some samples (mind you this is shop furniture so wasn’t really focusing on making it as clean as other projects):
