I’m a newbie to Lumberjock so maybe this has been brought up already. Just wondering what you folks think or if there are rules/policies with regard to Pinterest. I first heard about Lumberjocks via a pin. I like to pin interests or future project ideas to my boards on carpentry. So far I have hesitated to do so with the projects found here. Am interested in the general feelings of you fellows, and ladies???

You should use Pinterest in any way you think it will be helpful. I use it to save interesting articles and posts because it’s easy to find them later. It’s the equivalent of cutting articles from magazines and putting them in a file folder, except I don’t lose the folder. While some projects people post on Pinterest might inspire an idea for my own use, be careful when following step by step plans detailed there. It seems these plans are often presented by people with little or no woodworking experience. Let your own knowledge and experience guide you.

I’m not that familiar with what’s on Pinterest but I say gather your information where ever you can,but LJs has a wealth of information that may not be available elsewhere.

I have seen, and pinned, tons of LJ stuff on Pinterest. Anyone who posts projects here does so to share their products/experiences with others. I don’t know why anyone would be opposed to their projects being pinned. If anyone cared, it would be site admin and they have a big “P” button at the top of the site. So Pin away! Now that you’re here though, you can just save them to your favorites. Welcome aboard.

I love pintrist, but mostly for food. Get tons of great recipes there. I’ve seen some things that are interesting, but mostly not my cup of tea. not familiar with any “rules” that are restrictive, but then I’m not a super big poster there, just more on the receiving end.

I get much more WOW effect from HOUZZ.com, some things are just off the charts.

I would not be happy abouth anyone pinning my Projects at all, i got my own pinterst profile, and if there is any of my work i want there at all il post it myself. For my part choosing a site like lumberjocks to post Projects is to keep them relatively hidden and for wiew to those that are in the Craft. If i ever do come across posts of my work, il make sure that my lawyer gets it removed immediately, since most of them are copyrighted.
