I use my HF HVLP pray kit, which is identical to the Rockler’s kit, today for the first time to finish a shoe rack with poly. I am satisfied with the result and the equipment. There is one thing that is puzzling me. The connection of the hose to the machine/motor/turbine is not secure. When the machine is operating, a lot of air leaks out from the plastic housing that houses the end of the hose. I am only able to turn the plastic ring about 1/12 of a circle. This doesn’t lock the hose, which can be removed with some fiddling. For those with this unit, is this normal? Or is my unit defective?

The air leak = lost of pressure at the gun end = less atomization of material.

Mine is from harbor freight , I dont know if its the same as yours though, but it does sound like it. Mine leaks also.

It does a good job with lacquers. Paint has to be really thin to spray good.
