I’m new to turning and purchased a used Jet Mini. I picked up a new Nova G3 the other day, as it said it was “ideal” for mini lathes. I unpacked it today and found the threaded female mount is way too large for the male thread on the lathe. Do I have to get something extra to make it fit? Thanks.

a 8×1 adapter, you can find them on amazon.

The 1 X 8 should be what you need. Check your spindle specifications to be sure.
Also the “D” insert does not have the setscrew for reverse, IF your lathe has reverse.
If it has reverse (usually for sanding) I suggest the “X” insert instead. A couple of $$ more but already has the set screw.
Most lathes have a shoulder on the spindle at the headstock. A few are threaded all the way. Per the manufacturer do not use the “X” if yours does not have an unthreaded shoulder/register.
