I found this article on Popular Science today about how they’ve discovered a way to turn rattan wood (never heard of it) into bone like material that never has to be replaced and ordinary bones will actually fuse to it. Anyways I thought it was interesting, so if your interested here is the BBC video: and article from Popular Science,

That’s pretty crazy. A long way from the old wooden peg-leg. :-)

I think rattan is what they use for caning overseas. I knew it could be hardened but I didn’t realize it was THAT hard. Wow.
