Topic tags/keywords: question I have a $100.00 HD gift card courtesy of my cable company. Now the question is what to get. The 2 things I have in mind are a Dado blade or a Keg jig. I am looking at the Freud dado set that HD Caries (sorry don’t know the model # off hand.) that sells for $99. Or the Kreg jig set that they also have for $99.00. I have a single hole Kreg jig and a double hole hand held wolfcraft set, but the bench mounted system looks much faster, but what I have works and I do not have a dado blade set. Let me know what you think would be the best, also I am going to the wood show in Febuary and was wondering if there are any good deals on either of these things and I should wait until then for it. Thanks -- Alex |

I’d go for the new capability. That’s the entry level Freud dado set …I think HD carries the Diablo DD208 version, same as their SD208, or possibly a get new Ridgid Titanium saw blade or two if you don’t have a decent blade. Better yet…get both! -- Happiness is like wetting your pants...everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.... |

well, I’d get the ridgid oscilating sander… you’re going to have to borrow some money from your wife as it’s $200. -- There is a fine line between eroticism and nausea... |

$100 free money to spend…...... you need to think this through. The dado set or the Kreg jig sounds nice, but think about all the other things you could stock up on….... sandpaper, glue, clamps…...... etc. Either way, I’m sure you’ll make the best decision for yourself. If any of us LJs offer suguestions, we’re actually telling you what “we” would spend the money on, if we had it. Good luck. |

I like the idea of filling a gap in what you don’t have by getting a dado blade set. I had the Freud Diablo set and found it satisfactory. Take a 10% off coupon with you! -- some day I hope to have enough clamps to need a clamp cart! |

I want to know what cable company you subscribe to because mine sure doesn’t give away $100.00 gift cards; especially to HD, and I need a new angle grinder…Dang It!!!! -- Joe Truehart - The Craftsmans Woodshop |

My vote… new capabilities, make life in your shop a little easier with a new toy. My wife hates it when I say toys, but man toys (tools) are what we look forward to after you turn 50. LOL…. Good luck…... -- My "Bench Dog"... her name is Sugie. |

I am leaning tward the dado blade right now, new capabilites dose make the most sense when I think about it. The sander is a great idea and is high on my list but I am looking to buy that reconditioned as I have done with my Ridgid table saw and planer, and right now I think that the dado blade or pocket hole jig would be most useful as I am planning to build cabinets and a miter saw bench for my shop. -- Alex |

I have all those things they all mentioned so my only suggestion sense I got $75.00 HD card for Christmas is that you could send me your card and you would be free of all those troublesome decisions. LOL -- Dudley Young USN Retired. Sebastian, Fl. |

I have both and seem to use the kreg jig a lot more. I’ve got the master system with the dust collection and all. It’s pretty slick. -- Brian |
