Topic tags/keywords: oneida portable dust collector

i am starting a new shop in a one car garage and will have to move the car out to work. therefore, everything will be on wheels except the dust collector which will reach machines by flexible duct. anybody have any experience with the new oneida 3hp portable? i will be using 10-15 ft of of flex to reach the tool in use. i plan to build an enclosure around the collector with appropriate airflow to keep noise down and a jet air cleaner to help with the fine dust. machines will be nothing special-table saw, router table, jointer and planer, etc. folks at oneida were very helpful and think the portable will do the trick, though they thought a fixed system might be better. thanks, lucas mccain

I work in the 2nd bay of our two car garage and also need everything portable. I have a General DC (on wheels) and don’t find the noise too bad (especially when wearing hearing protection). I’ve thought about using fixed piping but until I find a more permanent placement for tools I will stick with the flexible tubing and switch from machine to machine. What solution did you eventually decide to use?
