Can anyone give me advice on how to make the pocket on the back of a cribbage board to hold pegs? I especially want to know how to make the slot to hold the sliding cover, or if you have a better idea altogether.

I haven’t done this but if it was me. I’d take a piece of scrap to try and mortise the pocket on the router table and then adjust my fence with a keyhole bit and use the the slot portion of the keyhole bit to rout the slots. I would think that would work or you could use a dovetail bit to cut an angle all the way around the pocket and make a matching sliding lid to slide in the dovetailed pocket.
