With a Wind Chill of -13°F. High today was 10°F. Overnight low is supposed to be 0°F with a -10°F to -15°F Wind hill. It was 58°F today when I went down to my shop. Fired up the wood stove, now it’s balmy down there, a comfortable 76.5°F, my kind of weather.

Woo-Who! Heat wave! 16°F out! Think I’ll go do some yard work! ;)

One thing I do like about this weather is my solar panels kick arse when it’s cold. The colder it is the more power they produce given the same amount of sunlight. If only it wasn’t partly cloudly today.

Curt, I had the same 10 degrees yesterday,so no advantage being north of you,I like my shop between 55-60 it works for me.
Tom, looks like it is an advantage to be noth of you,-7 below this morning looks calm out side so wind chill shouldn’t be much colder.
Scrappy,BIG disadvantage being noth of you I guess thats what 1700 miles will do for you.
hooky,I’m getting a headache just thinking of a 100 degree differnce.
Whatever the all have a good shop day!!!

Curt, look what you have started.
Today: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 18. Wind chill values between zero and 5. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible. We got about 2-3 inches last night.
Hey Scrappy, how about those Packers? Hot or cold weather, it doesn’t matter!
Time to get to work. Weather like this, one has no other choice but to go straight to the shop. Snow blowing can wait.

You just gotta love the upper Midwest at the new year. I just came back from northern MN where it was -19 on 1/1/10 with a brisk 20 mph wind that made the wind chill a nice -48. Once it gets that cold you really can’t feel the difference between -20 and -48. It all hurts as the wind cuts through you. I do like how the snow gets really crunchy though.
