Looking for a variable speed, at least 16 swing, length isn’t as important, I like the jet 1642 or nova 1644vs, if ya know of someone getting out or just a good deal, pass it along cpalmer9399@yahoo.com I’m in the Midwest illinoi, will travel a bit for the right item. Thanks woodys

Not sure going to find a good deal on a new lathe unless manufacturers or vendors running a sale. Good luck finding used lathe.

Variable speed wood lathes come in couple different flavors!

Reeves Drive mechanical variable speed can only change speed while lathe is running. Jet 1440 one example.

Vary speed moving belt along pulleys manually when lathe stops. Nova 1644 good example.

Electronic variable speed have inverter and change speed by turning a knob and or moving belt over low/high range pulleys. Jet 1642 for example.

DVR, no belts and no pulleys all done by electronically.

Word of caution – forget about the Reeves Drive.

Asian reeves drive not so good, but old iron North American made reeves drive lathes lot better!
