Hello fellow woodworkers,
I just picked up a Centauro Co 600 band saw. I have single phase power in my shop but it has a 4 hp three phase motor. I was considering a 4hp single phase vfd rated at 3kw. I am looking at getting one of the cheaper ebay vfds. I think the brand is Huan Yang. Some people say you need to derate the vfd so I would need a 7.5 hp vfd. But the one I am looking at says you can use single phase input. Does anyone have any experience with these running a band saw or other machines? Do they work well?

My other option is getting a single phase motor to replace it with.

Any thoughts will be helpful.

HP rating is useless… what is the FLA rating on your motor?

My suggestion: call the manufacturer of a VFD. Talk with their technical department. They can give you the best recommendations.
