I am new to LJ and just posted my first projects. I would like to respond to individuals who wer kind enough to comment on my projects but LJ will not allow me to respond until I have five post. Is there a way around it or am I blocked for saying thanks until I have posted five times? |

Actually you just did respond to their comments. You can post a thank you here or send each individual a private message if you would like. -- Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful- Joshua Marine |

Welcome WallyBob. Yes it sounds like Martin took steps after that last spammer that was hitting everyone’s Profile. I wonder if that pertains to everything but Forums and threads. But wouldn’t surprise me if a spammer does 5 quick posts and then goes on his/her merry way. -- -Curt, Milwaukee, WI |

Thanks to everyone who commented on my Cherry and Maple In-Boxes. I did goof on the name of the new joint used – it is a splined miter, not a splined mortise. I corrected my post – thanks to Ryan for pointing it out. For those who asked, the plans are indeed from Woodsmith – Vol 31 No 182 p 38 to be exact. I suggest making the splines deeper than 3/8” because when rounding the corners with a 1/2” roundover bit, too little surface area of the spline is left in the joint for full strength. Thanks to LJ for the forum – I’m amazed at the talent and helpfulness of everyone. -LewH -- Smile! |
