Looking to buy my first edge sander. I was looking at the Jet OES-80c edge sander and the Grizzly G0564 3hp. I know the Griz is twice as much but looks to hold up longer. If any one has used any of these machines please post your opions. Any information would be great to help decide which direction to go. I know Jet has 15% OFF this black Friday so I have to make a decision soon. THanks Alan

I have the 3 hp Delta.
I like the 3 hp over the 1 1/2 hp. You can really tell the difference when you’re sanding longer/wider pcs.
For smaller stuff it’s not a big deal.
I also like the 108” belt over the 89” Longer platen and table is better for longer pcs. and comes in handy.
My Delta allows me to add different size sanding spindles to the top of the free turning pulley,
not sure about the Grizzly. (nice option if it has it)
If I had the money available I would go with the Grizzly, but if not, I think the Jet would serve you well also.

I don’t have that exact model but i have a non oscillating 2hp edge sander from Grizzly and it’s done me very well.

I have surprisingly little sanding lines left over even though it’s not oscillating. If I ever do upgrade, it will be to the G0564.

Now, for smaller pieces, surprisingly, I like the Rigid oscillating edge/spindle sander. The spindle part of it isn’t very good but the oscillating edge sander is great for doing small parts.

I have been looking at both as well, I like the Grizzly slightly more due to the way the table height is adjusted. The Grizzly has a single hand wheel in the center whereas the Jet has two knobs opposite each other, one complaint I have read with the Jet is trying to move the table is almost a 2 man operation trying to operate those knobs and hold/move the table at the same time. But if the table height will not be changed all that often, it might not really matter. I also think the Grizzly dust collection set up is a bit better, which is another complaint with the Jet model.

The Jet lists a 1/2 inch oscillation. The Grizzly shows 3/4 inch oscillation in the picture, but lists 1/4 inch in the specs. The reviews I have read about the Grizzly confirmed the 1/4 inch oscillation.

The Grizzly does allow for spindle sanding with several different sizes. If I understand the Jet correctly, it does not, but you can swing away the dust collection fitting on one end and use the area where the belt loops around the drum to sand curves, though thats only one size. On the Grizzly, you can get a dust collection table for spindle sanding, they have two different part numbers but the pics are the same, both say they will work with the 3HP sander – one is #D3741 currently $70, the other is #T10116 currently $150

At any rate, if you do buy one, please be sure and post a review here!
