Someone in my area is selling a Power King 912, which is a 12” bandsaw made in the 40’s. You can see some like it on OWWM: http://www.owwm.com/mfgindex/detail.aspx?id=1138&tab=4. Has anyone heard of these? It’s being sold pretty cheap, and looks to be in at least as good a shape as the ones shown on OWWM. There’s not too much out on the net about them, only a few scattered references to them in forums. They seem to be an excellent old machine that is a good user still from what I can tell.
One thing I’ve gleaned, is that it has at least 5-3/4” resaw capacity, which is perfect for me since I have a 6” jointer. I’ve also been looking at the Kreg bandsaw fence for it, though there may be at least one small issue with doing that – the slot to feed the blade through the table comes out the same side as the fence would mount to. It’d be a real pain to have to take the fence off every time I wanted to change blades…
Thoughts? Hopefully this guy doesn’t sell it before I make up my mind, especially if I decide to buy it :D
