I have had a number of places that I get news letters from and as time goes on I have unsuscribed to most of them because there either boring , not interesting ,have 99% adds or they don’t have much content or all of the above. I have two I still look forward to The LJs newsletter (great job MSdebbie it gets better each month ) and Charles Neil, his news letter is chock full of great woodworking tips and all the amazing projects Charles has been working on (A one man high end furniture machine) plus access to past news letters if I remember right ,and the best part is it’s FREE here’s a link http://charlesneilwoodworking.com/newsletters.php
while your there take a look at his web site. pretty impressive . I favor Charles because not only for his great talent but because he is accessible and very helpful. If you have a question he gets back to you with help(whens the last time Norm or one of the other guys got back to you?)

Hey! I get questions all the time and answer them all.

They’re all by PM though, and I don’t have a newsleter :-)

I just love Charles Neil and his down to earth approach… I subscribe and have his doors and drawer DVD and am waiting very patiently for his Cases and bases DVD… One reproach is the turn around time on the DVDs… 6 to 8 weeks… I reckon I could walk over to his shop and back in that time…. lol… but they are well worth the wait….
And I too have been questioned on several occasions… (only twice by the POLICE LOL) and I try to answer all as soon as I see them…
thanks for the post Jim… more useful info for the newer members…with nine months up… I feel like an old hand.

Hey Gary
I know you answer questions your helpful to all the LJ folks, I did not mean that there are not good folks here that don’t help others I meant to compare others that put out their own newsletters. If you end up writing one Gary, I guess that would three I would be interested in.

Message sent to Sherri… was actually only just on 5 weeks from payment to arrival of the DVDs and I now have them… that is the problem with international orders… actually I have things take longer to arrive from Brisbane… 4 weeks…. and that is only 1 hour away….
looking forward to having some time to watch them all….

Thanks for the tip, Jim. I think that I get two other mailings and I don’t get too much out of them. I don’t suppose anybody knows of a newsletter that gives you tips on how to work with minimal tools and scraps??? Maybe?

I get a lot of good info from Charles Neil … as others have pointed out, Charles is accessible (he has answered a number of questions I emailed him) and his DVD and video presentations are like he is talking directly to me one-on-one. He is a gifted craftsman and teacher.

Another newsletter I look forward to is from Marc Spagnoulo (http://thewoodwhisperer.com/). Marc is an excellent communicator and has a number of very good video presentations available on his website.

Each of the magazines I subscribe to does email newsletters of one sort or another … some of them are quite good also.
