Hi all, I’m new to the forum, not so new to woodworking as a hobby. I wish I had more time for it!

I have noticed a number of members are from the Milwaukee, WI area and I am desperately in need of some sharpness.

Can anyone recommend a blade sharpening service in my area? I need my 10” carbide saw blades AND my 6 1/8” planer knives sharpened (who put those nails in my wood?). I have inquired at Rockler already, but am wondering if there are any other dependable companies or private parties who do this.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Dave, I use Forrest Manufacturing for all of my sharpening needs. They primarily deal in the manufacture of saw blades but also sharpen blades, router bits and planer/jointer knives. They are located in New Jersey but it is simply a matter of boxing the blades up and shipping the package to them. They will post a charge to your credit card and send them back. When you get them back they include a $5.00 discount for the next blade sharpening.

Armstrong Saw & Tool is the BEST. Call them, they may have a drop off point close to you. The sharpen for many area shops.

Dave, take it to Rockler. Drop it off by Thursday pick it up the following Thursday, reasonably priced too. I’ve been told that the guy that sharpens them uses the same machine the big boys do, like Forrest and Freud and even has the specs from Frorest (with a NDA) to sharpen their blades.

Never been disappointed by their sharpening, top notch.

Thanks Curt.
The thought didn’t occur to me before I posted. I gave them a call and I agree, the rates do sound reasonable. In my case I need a couple teeth replaced, but once its done I’ll be in good shape.
