This is my second question. I’ve never finished anything before (as in stain, etc). I’m trying to finish my humidor that I just made as my first project, and think I’m going to go with a lacquer top finish so I can get that hard glassy (glossy) feel/look. The box is completed. It is made of oak and aspen. I’m going to stain the oak, and leave the aspen as is. Do i just set the box on a surface and get all the sides and top with coats of lacquer and then do the bottom later – If so, do i tape off the bottom so I dont get any runs on it?? I guess I’m just not sure the techniques of finishing things. Do I apply the lacquer with a brush or wipe on? Its going to be a present for my brother, so I want it to look professional and really nice. Any advice or help would be welcome!! Thanks a lot!! -- Hey you dang woodchucks, quit chucking my wood!!!! |
