Here is a question for you experts out there. I am in need of a planer. I was looking at either JET or Powermatic 15” planers. I had a couple slip through my fingers causing complete heartbreak. I now have an opportunity for a lightly used Woodmaster 718 with the Pro Pack. He also has several hundred worth of cutter heads for the moulder. I think I can get this for $1300. My question is how good of a deal is this? My main interest right now is a planer. The idea of being able to make mouldings for my house is just a bonus.

Here is what I am up against, I found the Shop Fox W1692 15” planer brand new for $810. I called Grizzly and they told me that their H7768 Shelix (made by Byrd) for $549 will fit this planer. I would like to get some expert opinions out there. For anyone interested here is the link:

Thanks for your time!

Consider this, new 718’s sell for $3,000 dollars just by themselves. Since this is a 4 in 1 tool, you’re already $1,700 dollars ahead. and gives you the option to upgrade the tool.

I know what you mean Union. Right now woodmaster has a 60% off sale on the 718 and the pro pack until 12/31. Still awfully pricey for me though. Dang I must be cheap!

I have been very satified with my Woodmaster 25 which I have had for about 11 years. I ordered a head so that I can set up moulding cutter with out removing the planer blades.

Have your say...
