I’ll soon be getting a Nova Infinity chuck and a Nova DVR XP and have a question about Nova chuck accessories. I’m thinking about buying a 100 mm jaw set for the Infinity chuck but am a bit confused. At first it seemed that I would need to buy a $40 retrofit kit for a new 100 mm jaw set to work in the Infinity chuck, but then I read this:

“Nova has already released a bunch of new accessory jaws to fit the Infinity quick-change chuck, including bowl-jaws, sawtooth jaws, and smooth column jaws.” http://toolguyd.com/nova-infinity-quick-change-lathe-chuck-jaws-system/

Does anybody know if this is true? I haven’t come across those jaws at the Teknatool site or anywhere else.

Older jaws (from other Nova chucks) require the adapters.

For the Infinity chuck, they have jaw sets that go directly on the Infinity chuck with no adapters

Thank you, Jerry. I believe my Infinity chuck will come with bowl jaw set #3, but I would like a larger set. Something comparable to the 100 mm jaw set. That would be the Infinity #4 jaw set, but I guess Teknatool hasn’t come out with that one yet. It’s not available at Home Depot, Amazon or Teknatool USA.

I have an Infinity Chuck and love it. Changing jaws is effortless and takes only seconds. However, I am disappointed that Nova hasn’t added any larger jaws. The Infinity Chuck has been out for a couple of years and the largest smooth jaw available has an inside diameter for gripping a spigot of just 1.8 inches. Thats for smooth jaw series #3 which comes in the bundle. their website lists a #4, 5, 6, and a #7 going up to 4 inches but none have been released.
I called them and they put me on an email list to be notified when they are available, but the delay makes me nervous and I am concerned that I wasted my money thinking that I ‘d have a one chuck system for all my needs. But at the moment I’m concerned that I’ll have to buy something else if I want to turn a bowl with anything bigger than a 1.8 inch foot.

Nova does some weird stuff … they are selling ‘Remote Enabled’ lathes, but the remote controls for them are ‘out of production’. They advertise a series of jaws which, for the most part, apparently do not exist.

They have some decent products, but it is a hell of a way to run a railroad.

That’s strange. The only Nova chuck I have now, the Precision Midi, will grip a tenon up to 2 5/16”.
So the Infinity chuck (with series #3) I expect to receive in a couple of weeks is smaller than the Precision Midi?

The chuck itself is a lot larger, it is the same body as the Supernova2. It is just that they haven’t released all of the jaw sizes yet. They have released some bowl, some sawtooth, and some smooth. It looks like to me they should have released all seven sets of the bowl jaws first, then other profiles.
When they release them the #7 jaws will fit a 4” tenon.

In the mean time, if you want a larger base, you can use expansion. I use expansion most of the time since using 2” jaws (with an inch around) there is three time as much wood to break away compared to a 2” tenon.

Update. On their Facebook page I asked:
Any word on when the larger accessory jaws will finally be available for the Infinity chuck?

Answer: The larger accessory jaws for the Infinity will be available around mid-spring of this year.

What’s also worrying, is Teknatool has proudly announced its new catalog and there’s no sign of the larger Infinity jaws.
