Topic tags/keywords: question

Just bought a roll and see that it is 0.94 inches wide? I guess it is like Tropicana orange juice. A half gallon container used to have 64 ounces of juice. Now, the container has only 59 ounces. Do the manufacturers think we’re stupid and won’t notice what is really a price increase?

They don’t think you are stupid, they just know that you need masking tape.

It’s the Vast Metric Conspiracy, maybe?

My wife pointed out the potato chip bags for sale at her store. The ones before the new batch were larger, but the new bags claim to be a “new, larger size.”

I wonder how the length of the tape compares to the stated length. It might be hard to measure it and then roll it back up!

Maybe your tape is “dimensional” like a 2 X 4. I buy my tape rough (4/4) and then mill it myself.

People react badly to price increases so manufactures reduce the quantity of their products rather than increasing the price.sneaky isn’t it.

Actually it was that width for some time… it was just that 3M was cheating by setting their equipment to intentionally ‘UNDER DELIVER” what was on the package.
they had to pay 700K fine and stop calling the “thin” tape 1 inch
They now have to list the ACTUAL 0.94 inch width on the package.

I would just place on the side of the tape ‘1” +/- .06”’ Then its all legit.

And the +/- is in mouse print. 3M should hire me.
