My daughter got an early start on Christmas presents this year and painted her Mom some stuff on a piece of CDX. She used acrylic paints and wants it to be used as a tray. What kind of clear coat should I use to seal it up?

Thanks!

Whatever you want. (check this out). Is the purpose of the clear coat to protect the paint?

Great read. Thanks!

Purpose is to protect the paint mostly to preserve it’s current color and prevent anything from soaking into the board if it gets spilled on. I mean, it’s going to be like a serving tray – not a cutting board. So the potential for staining is much smaller.
