Check out this little design in this grain on this maple piece, i hope it is there after milling.

After closer inspection, there are bug holes by those designs.

What you have there is a plank of Ambrosia Maple. The trailings are the excretions of the Ambrosia Beetle, which invades quite a bit of maple. Planks with larger amounts of beetles can be beautiful, like this guitar I built.

Some parts of the country call it Ambrosia Maple, some other areas of the country call it Wormy Maple. Either way, the beetles are dead and long gone, so you are left with a really nice plank of maple. When I use it, I do fill the beetle holes with filler.

Make something beautiful out of it!!

Ambrosia Maple. I have a stack in my shop. Cool stuff.

I would ship some to you but the price of shipping would suck. These are 8’ long boards.
