Topic tags/keywords: christmas projects wood toys ideas

Hello All,
Its that time of year again. I was hoping to get some ideas from everyone on homemade xmas projects. I have made cuttingboards, marble board games, Christmas ornaments, and checker/chess boards in years past. Im looking for something quick and easy build as I have a ton of family to make for. I have been a professional woodworker for 17 years. I work for a large custom woodworking firm so I have access to a lot of scrap and machinery.

Any ideas?

Also looking for fun wood toy projects for all my nieces and nephews…..

What have you done in the past? Ideas? Recommendations?

Thanks!!

Here is something that I stumbled across a few months ago. Seems that once you get a system down you could pump these out fairly quick.

Made this guy last year. Maple antlers, walnut body, legs & head, bloodwood nose and a piece of hickory with sapwood & heartwood together that looked like an upturned whitetail. Came out pretty decent.

McFly- That’s awesome!! I have made a ton of wood yard decorations for my wife, mother, aunts, etc over the years. But not a reindeer yet. Looks good!!

I just joined LJ so I don’t have any pics up yet of my projects. Hope to do that soon.

Rudolph turned out more daschund than reindeer due to some stubby legs. I’ll see if I can dog up a finished pic

How about some simple boxes for the adults and trebuchets for the kids of all ages?

Bah freaking humbug!

It isn’t even Halloween yet and already Home Depot has their ugly-assed fake xmas trees front and center. It is sacrilege to those of us who worship real trees.

If we HAVE to suffer through xmas again this year, can it at least wait until after ThanksGiving?

I’ll say it again Bah Humbug!

Have your say...
