Topic tags/keywords: jointer miter saw

My toddler son woke me up at 4:50 this morning and I couldn’t get back to sleep. Fortunately, as he went back to sleep, I decided to check craig’s list and stumbled upon an ad from someone who was selling everything in his shop starting at 9, and he lived 1 block over. For $55, I scored a table, coping saw, hand planer, rasp, bench vise, 2 spring clamps, a shop light, a Japanese dagger, a Royobi compound miter saw, and a jointer! The miter saw is pretty rusty, but it runs and I think I can clean it up. The jointer is pretty fantastic, and it came with 3 new blades. This is a major upgrade from the hammer and jig saw that were my only woodworking tools. But now I have a steep learning curve with the jointer. Its a PowrKraft, and the belt motor is GE. Both were made in the US. I fell like the luckiest kid who just got their Christmas wish granted!

Good find and great price. You can do lots of work even with a small jointer. I only had a 4” Craftsman when I started out. You can always upgrade later.

Good find. I need a jointer too and continue to watch Craig’s list in areas worth driving. So far no deal on anything over 6”.
