What are the advantages of an Over Arm Router over a Router Table?

Looks like the OA’s probably have more power… (?)

I have never owned one but have, over the years worked in shops that have them and if I had the room, the money, I would much prefer an overhead router over a router table for a few reasons

way faster to calibrate, set up, both the work and the tooling

you can see whats going on

more powerful

but I dont have the room nor the money

Yep, I agree with Jim… The MLCS is what I’d go for… and it’s ON SALE too! :) (less than $50) :)

That would be very simple to build too.

I’m thinking of the popular mechanics article is a berrtter solution. There are times I make custom moldings, and the over arm router is going to become a great tool.
