Topic tags/keywords: question resource

I am going to be doing some repairs and making some things for my Daughter and Grandkids when I go to Oceanside for Xmas and need to find a place to get decent wood. I am not sure what I am going to need but there is a HD and Lowes within a mile or two of her house that will be fine for general home repair stuff.
What I am looking for is something with a better selection and quality of wood that I can get already S4S since I won’t have access to a jointer or planner but my Daughter did buy a table saw and I have bought her most of the other tools I might need.

I have already done the Google search trip and the other Internet search’s but still can’t find anything in Oceanside or really close that seems to have the kind of stuff I might need , so please no referrals to some place you just found online. What I need is real places that you have actually been to and found good selection and prices. I did find several places in San Diego but that’s a bit more of a drive than I would like to have to make.

So if any of you LJ’s are in Oceanside please speak up and let me know where you buy your wood from.

Projects are likely to be , Kitchen Cart , Outdoor Benches , Bathroom Vanity and anything else she say’s Dad can you make one of these kind of stuff.

Thanks in Advance folks.

I used to work in Carlsbad, so all first hand experience:

Tropical Exotic Hardwoods: http://www.tehwoods.com/
Yes they have expensive tropical hardwoods, but they also keep a selection of native american hardwoods, maple, cherry etc.

San Marcos is near Oceanside:

San Marcos Hardwoods: http://sanmarcoslumber.com/
Small selection of hardwoods

Saroyan Hardwoods: http://www.saroyanhardwoods.com/
Pretty good selection of hardwoods

Good luck!

Thanks John . I guess San Marcos is pretty much the best choice , I had already seen Saroyan online and it looks pretty good form their web site. Was just hoping that Oceanside had something .

Richard,

I Think Saroyan is probably your best bet for selection and pricing.
