Topic tags/keywords: stiles rails woodmaster door

I have a “Woodmaster 718” I do not have a shaper nor a sophisticated router…sounds strange I know?
I want to build 9 doors for my casa…maybe panel doors…1 exterior and 8 interior of various sizes. My problem is building a door is a project with several challenges and I do not have the tool of choice but then someone was building doors long before electic tools were invented. Do you or someone you may know ever do stiles and rails with a “woodmaster planer/molder? Do those of you who have built doors know if any company can make knives to do stiles and rails for 1 3/8” and 2” thick lumber?

This post was quite a while ago…did you ever find a place to make knives for you? How did your doors turn out?

Thanks for the reply, I changed to another idea. I found a supplier that sold S/C doors pre hung made out of oak for a price cheaper than I could make them. I had bought the set to make stiles and rails and panels but I couldn’t buy the material for what he sold me the whole thing for. Go figure?
So next time I will know that people can do a lot when they are feeling pressed for what ever reason.
Thanks
Greg

Greg – Even though this post is old, I think a router is the most versatile tool in the shop. Sometimes good routers go on sale pretty cheap….keep your eyes peeled for a deal, and maybe add one to your arsenal. It’ll add considerable capability.
