I can not adjust the belts on my variable speed lathe, either the upper belt is loose or the lower belt is loose. Any ideas?

Don’t know much about the General 260, other than it uses a Reeves drive for variable speed.

Check for a manual for the 260 at http://www.vintagemachinery.org ... there may some adjustment instructions in the manual.

Do talk about making some adjustments on page 4 on variable speed drive. If that doesn’t help try e-mailing General stating lathe model # and nature of your problem.

Cannot tell you how lmany years ago seen Gen 260 reeves drive. Lot easier to work on than Asian reeves drives.
