Topic tags/keywords: question

I may be the only one but it takes for ever to open a page on LJ site.
Other places are fast as always.

That’s because Martin knows it’s you, so he applies the brakes.

After viewing and commenting for some time during the day I find things slow down on my computer so I do a restart and then my computer runs much faster, I think it has something to do with temporary memory getting full not sure.

Right Jim, You may want to assign more HD space for temp page memory, it will be slightly slower than RAM but not much. Just make sure there is enough free space on your HD to allow the amount of page mem space you are asking for. Doing a HD cleanup and defrag beforehand is a good idea.

Roger, I too have noticed quite a slow down, even trying to get to the page. It might be server problems.

Me, too.

Last couple of days I have all but given up. Many times my browser times out before the page can load. Did all the things that need to be done to speed it up and extend the time out but everything is still really slow.

We all have some slowing, I believe it is just the volume of posts and bandwidth usage on this site.

Padre: That may be true also. There have been so many new members and their posts that I bet Martin is busy finding more space and HP to handle it, so maybe we should expect it when we get to new thresholds before we add additional server space.
Martin does a great job maintaining this site and I am sure this current surge in membership has him scambling to keep up.
PS. I was only trying to wind up GMman for the day.

Mark: I’m pretty illiterate in woodworking, just shows you how we need each other.

If you are running windows, it may help if you run a defragmentation on your PC.

I guess we’re getting spoiled with the new high speed connections.

I noticed they a a fuzz slower than they seemed to be a month or two ago, but noting to get my dander up about. Gman, it’s probably your puter or the connection. Lack of RAM and older units are getting overwhelmed by all teh graphics, ect on the websites. Youi might have some Spyware issues lurking in there somewhere. If yiou ever get a message saying yoiu puter is slow, it’s some SOB screwing it up and trying to sell yoiu the repair at teh same time for $29.95:-((
