Topic tags/keywords: question red cedar finishing rustic

Any input out there on the best finish to use on red cedar. This is for a coffee table so I need durability and looks at the same time. What is in your bag of tricks ?

ERC is big here in Kentucky.
Indoor finishes include polyurethane varnishes, either oil-based or water-born.
Outdoor finishes usually include spar varnish or Sikkens Cetol.

I’ve used the Minwax polyurethane varnishes to good effect on cedar. I just finished a toy that I finished with Salid Bowl Finish and it also looks good to me.
