For those of you who have garage shops that are not climate controlled:

Do you work when it rains? I want to get started milling for a coffee table but I’m not sure If I should wait until a Few days of lower hidity?

Mill up your wood for the table then take it in with you for a couple days to let it acclimate to indoor humidity. Assemble in the shop but don’t leave it out there.

Mike, here in Kentucky if I waited for days of lower humidity I would never get anything done. I continue working on whatever project I am involved irrespective of the weather outside.

Same here as Scott. Here in the mountains we have low and or high humidity. rain and more rain, sleet, snow, ice…you name it we get it and sometimes all in the same day so we just keep right on working. Sometimes my wifey does ask why she’s got a 100 brd ft of lumber in her den :-)

I’ll echo what’s been said, go ahead and do the work, just climatize the wood. And Scrappy, you guys suck, it seems all we get is rain 3 seasons out of 4, in the summer all we get is snow, JK.

Pay little or no attention to beautiful rain, keep going forward.

No matter what!

Short of an all-out heaven-open vertical pounding downpour, we love working in the rain.

No one is out, there’s only the natural sounds of nature and you have the world to yourself—and the beautiful ducks.

Have your say...
